A UK farm paid homage to a rock legend with a giant Ozzy Osbourne pumpkin mosaic tribute which is a cool way to honor the legendary rocker.
Sunnyfields Farm in Southampton, UK, found a pretty metal way to honor Ozzy Osbourne after the rock legend passed away in July. They arranged hundreds of their home-grown pumpkins and squashes into a massive mosaic of the Prince of Darkness, complete with his trademark sunglasses and bats flying around him. The whole thing measured 212 square meters, roughly the size of a tennis court.
Fans seek to pay tribute to Ozzy
Ozzy Osborne had one of the longest music careers ever and was part of many breakthrough albums and features in heavy metal. He earned the title “Prince of Darkness” for his on-stage persona and dark music, despite being a committed family man and father. His recent death caused a buzz around the globe of Ozzy fans, some of whom may not have ever heard his music if it weren’t for the reality television shows featuring the famous rocker and most of his family. A farm in the UK created a Halloween-style tribute to Ozzy using various large vegetables, which make for an incredible mural on the ground. It only seems fitting that Ozzy receives tribute in this way.
Halloween pumpkin art record, and the Prince of Darkness
Guinness World Records showed up to verify it as the largest cucurbita mosaic ever made. Cucurbita is just the fancy botanical term for pumpkins, squash, and gourds. The farm timed the reveal perfectly for Halloween season, and Sharon and Kelly Osbourne came out to see the tribute display. Ozzy had died at 76 on July 22, just 17 days after performing Black Sabbath’s farewell concert on July 5, 2025.

One of the darkest days of Ozzy’s career has to be April 27,1979, when other members of Black Sabbath voted to remove him from the musical group that he helped to found. He had become unreliable and was deep in substance abuse, causing him to be a distraction and detrimental to the band. Ozzy went on to become a success as a solo artist, but through interviews and the reality show, it was easy to see that the rocker truly wished to be part of the original group once again. Thankfully, he got himself cleaned up and became a loyal husband and father, which the world got to see during the family’s reality show featuring his wife Sharon, son Jack, and Daughter Kelly.
Chilling vocals brought heavy metal to the masses
Black Sabbath hit the top of the charts with Paranoid in 1970, which was the first such chart-topping hit of its kind. While there’s no definitive time and location when heavy metal was born, some arguments can be made for this band being the original heavy metal group, making their rehearsal hall the location and the year 1969, when heavy metal first began.
The combination of powerful lyrics, haunting sounds, and Ozzy’s vocal delivery made for a combination that makes the hair stand up on your arms. They are also one of the first groups to have songs that lasted six minutes or longer, which was unheard of at the time. This allows the songs to tell stories, and these “ballads” became a huge part of heavy metal and hard rock for the next few decades.

That farewell show, called Back to the Beginning, raised £140 million for charity. Black Sabbath actually holds another Guinness record, too. They went 42 years and 255 days between topping the UK album charts, first hitting number one with Paranoid in October 1970, then doing it again with their album 13 in 2013. While the Guinness adjudicator was at the farm checking out the Ozzy mosaic, he also weighed the heaviest pumpkin on record, grown by twin brothers Ian and Stuart Paton, who brought that title to the UK for the first time.
The final Black Sabbath concert brought the group back to Birmingham, England, where it all began. They performed in front of a crowd of 42,000 at Villa Park for Ozzy’s final performance of his lifetime.
