How brash and brazen can you be? Some people prove they are extremely brash with some crazy vanity plate that you wouldn’t expect to have been approved.
If you want to show a little extra personality on your vehicle, the DMV gives you an easy way to do this. You can have a customized license plate with the message you want to share as long as it fits within the limited number of characters on the plate. This is called a vanity plate, and some people have created the strangest versions of these plates and gotten away with them.
BAD HASS
If someone else has taken your desired plate, you’ve got to improvise. Its easy enough to understand the message behind a plate that spells out B-A-D H-A-S-S, but this driver might be looking for trouble in the wrong places. Despite advertising that they think very highly of themselves, some who see this plate might challenge the owner to back it up and prove they are indeed a BAD HASS. Of course, they were beaten to the punch and could have BAD ASS, which would have been the preferred plate.
CONN MAN
What do you think when you see CONN MAN on the back of a vehicle? This has to be one of the strangest vanity plates, and it might be a way to show off some patriotism, but most people will think this message means something else entirely. The plate is from the state of Connecticut, and the owner is showing they are proud to be from that state, but most people might not realize that and think it to mean that he’s proud to be a con man, which isn’t something you want to be associated with.
OJDIDIT
One Idaho driver keeps the thought of O.J. Simpson and his crimes alive with a plate that reads OJDIDIT. Despite the trial and much of the surrounding coverage being long in the rearview mirror, the OJ trials and other surrounding events are meme-worthy, as is this plate. The joke on this vehicle is complete with a black leather glove hanging under the plate, which shows full commitment to sharing their thoughts and feelings about the events that took place.
Q0Q Q0Q, and 1111I11
Some drivers don’t go as much for personalization as confusion. In these cases, the strangest vanity plates you’ll see are clever ideas to attempt to thwart speed cameras and police attempting to write down the plate number. Most speed cameras have very low resolution and don’t clearly capture plate numbers. If the camera system can’t figure out where the plate is supposed to go and who it belongs to, the ticket can’t be issued, right? Maybe that’s the case, maybe not, but it’s pretty interesting.
YER MOM
Your Momma jokes have been around for years and make for some fun and interesting banter between friends. Adding this to your vehicle as a form of license plate brings the jokes to the front of mind and will have other drivers begin their discussion of what your momma does and doesn’t have, do, or understand. This simple insult is right to the point, and everyone is in on the joke, making it easy to enjoy some fun while driving behind this motorist.
370H55V
Some people can be extremely creative and understand how to create one of the strangest vanity plates but upside down. It might seem a bit odd that they would want their car to read “A**HOLE” while on the road, but at least you’ve been warned if you happen to encounter this motorist on the road. While we aren’t sure if posting it upside down is legal, this might be another way to avoid the speed cameras, at least until a human analyst reviews the plate and figures out that it’s upside down.
PB4WEGO
The message of this plate is pretty clear: they aren’t stopping for a pee break. They have posted it on the back of their vehicle to remind their passengers to use the facilities before leaving the house, which only makes sense. If you saw this car stopped at a gas station, you wouldn’t expect its passengers to be in the restroom, but then again, as long as they “pee before they go” this might be acceptable. This is a driver you expect will get wherever they want to go as quickly as possible.
What are some of the strangest vanity plates you’ve seen? Would you put some of these messages on your vehicle?
